xx 07/08/2007 "Meet and Treat" Event Recap!
« Thread started on: Jul 9th, 2007, 8:10pm »

Thank you all for the wonderful TAG "Meet and Treat" event this past Sunday, July 7, 2007 at Lake Lafayette Heritage Park (Piney Z Lake)! The get-together was a huge success on every front. I know for sure that there were OVER 50 people in attendance! It was terrific to see so many kids at the event too!

We were even graced with cachers on horseback! How cool was THAT?!

While definitely on the hot side (The bank thermometer read 97 when we drove in at 3:15 PM!), there was a nice breeze that kept the bugs at bay and made things much more bearable. And while it was definitely a challenge to keep ice cream frozen, I think everything stayed solid enough for everyone to get their first helping or so. The kids REALLY enjoyed the cool treats and the sugar fueled some intense playground time later in the day!

Sadly... ...some of the adults acted like they'd never seen frozen treats before and behaved poorly... Especially the guy in the hat! Shameful... ...really.

A special "Thank You" to Donna and Ed from Tallahassee Lassie (No Dash / Original) for going out to get some water when the ice cream wasn't doing enough to quench thirsts. We've learned to have water at these types of events now! Thanks, again!

Eventually, we took a quick break from the fun and socializing to take care of some important TAG business.

The key items discussed were:

-The upcoming July 31, 2007 deadline to vote for the Official 2007 TAG Top-Ten Caches.
-The rescheduling to 8/18/2007 of the "Return to Osceola: The RESSURRECTION" event and a request for cache container donations for that purpose.
-Reminder about and more details concerning the October 13, 2007 Fall TAG Event (Meet and Eat) and Poker Run (to be held earlier the day of the "Meet and Eat").
-TAG Fund Raisers/Sales:
--TAG Paid Memberships. (No more Charter Memberships. TAG Membership is now $15 for first year and $10 for each year thereafter.
--TAG Cache ID Stickers. (2-for-1 stickers = $2 and Micro stickers = $ .50)
--TAG 2007 Pathtags. (Members: $1.75. Non-Members = $2)

One of the key purposes of the get-together was the release of the Official 2007 TAG Pathtag. Hopefully everyone was as thrilled with the final product as we were. We think they look great. We kicked off the "release party" by drawing a random winner for the first TAG pathtag to be released. This pathtag was accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity signed by the TAG President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. Congratulations goes to Nick of the Tallahassee Lassie (No Dash / Original / Donna's clan / etc.) team!

I then went on to award the second and third pathtags released to our Vice President, Kay Peddie, and our Treasurer, Chris Gohlke, as thanks for everything they so selflessly do for TAG. Thank you both!

With the business out of the way, we got down to selling pathtags and stickers. When it was all said and done, we had sold 166 pathtags, 20 2-for-1 Cache ID Stickers, and 13 Micro Cache ID Stickers! There are ~170 pathtags and an endless supply of Cache ID Stickers remaining. If you would like to purchase any additional pathtags or stickers, please do NOT think you have to wait until the next event. Contact me via private message here at the website or via e-mail to TAGFLA@gmail.com and we'll make arrangements to get you whatever you need!

We wrapped up the meeting with more socializing and a little discovery and swapping of travel bugs and coins.

In closing, I want to, again, thank everyone that attended this event and made it such a success. Your continued attendance of these events and support of TAG will help ensure more of these events and others in the future.

Hmmm... ...did someone mention having an event in a location that sells adult beverages some time BEFORE the Fall event? Stay tuned to http://www.TAGFLA.com for more information...

What absolutely great photos. Thank you for changing the images on the home page. I love to see the faces of others out there in front of the community.

Sunday was good, very good.

Before the fall event as in October 6th or later? So that I can come? Albeit likely slightly hung over due to the big 21st Bday on the 5th, which is a FRIDAY NIGHT!!!! Which I'll have a DD for. And will likely remember nothing about. tongue

...and I'll HAVE to be there, too!!!

I haven't forgotten my obligations as the LAST official charter member!

But seriously, thanks for organizing the event, and I wish I could have stayed longer!!! I will do better next time, honest!

Sorry I missed this one but I will make it a point to get out to one of your events as they do look like you had a blast.
